Ryan Bertrand has been overlooked by Roy Hodgson for the England squad to face Lithuania and Italy.

After a sparkling season for Saints the left back had hoped to win a long awaited international recall for the Euro 2016 qualifier at Wembley and the friendly game in Italy.

However, he has once again been left out, with Leighton Baines and Saints academy graduate Luke Shaw named in his position.

As expected, Saints duo Nathaniel Clyne and Fraser Foster have made the cut.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been called up to the England squad for the first time.

Kane's return of 26 goals in 42 matches has earned him a place in the 24-man party.

Daniel Sturridge, Fabian Delph and Kyle Walker were named in the squad, which was announced on Thursday lunchtime at Wembley, but there was no place for Danny Ings, Ryan Mason or Charlie Austin.

Former Saints striker Rickie Lambert's England career looks to have run its course as he was left out but Adam Lallana is in along with another St Mary's academy graduate in Theo Walcott.
