Jose Fonte earned Euro 2016 bragging rights over Saints colleagues Dusan Tadic and Filip Djuricic tonight.
Fonte came on as an early 17th minute sub for Ricardo Carvalho as Portugal defeated Serbia 2-1.
Carvalho had already put the hosts 1-0 up against a Serbian side who included Tadic in the starting line-up.
Djuricic came on for Serbia in the 65th minute, while Tadic was taken off eight minutes from time.
Elsewhere, Saints midfielder Steven Davis was replaced at half-time by Corry Evans as Northern Ireland defeated Finland 2-1 to keep alive their hopes of a first major finals for 30 years.
Florin Gardos was an unused sub for Romania as they laboured to a 1-0 home win over minnows Faroe Islands in a Euro qualifier.
Morgan Schneiderlin played 82 minutes as France defeated Denmark 2-0 in a friendly.
