LORD Lang of Monkton, the former Conservative trade and industry secretary Ian Lang, has joined the board of Lithgows, the Glasgow-based ship repair, engineering, and fish farming group, as a

non-executive director.

He has picked up a clutch of company directorships since he lost his seat for

Galloway and Upper

Nithsdale in the May General Election and was elevated to the peerage. The Lithgows appointment brings the total so far to six.

Over the past six months Lord Lang has become deputy chairman of European Telecom and a non-executive director of General Accident and US investment group Marsh & McLennan. He has also joined the board of two investment trusts: Murray Ventures and Second Scottish National Trust.
