GLASGOW Warriors star John Barclay has warned his team-mates they will need to play at Test level intensity to defeat European champions Munster at Thomond Park tomorrow.

The flanker will be a key player for Sean Lineen's side as he seeks to win vital possession at the breakdown and allow the Firhill men to re-cycle quick ball.

Munster served notice of their Magners League title intent by mauling defending champions Leinster 18-0 in Dublin last week and Barclay admits Warriors need to put in a huge effort.

He said: "It doesn't get any harder than Munster at Thomond Park and the fact that this is opening night for them with their new stadium will mean they are psyched up.

"That means we will have to go out and play with a Test intensity. Munster are so full of internationals that you could say this is virtually an international team we are facing.

"They have Paul O'Connell, the Ireland captain in the back row and he runs the show for them. But on top of that Jerry Flannery, Donncha O'Callaghan, John Hayes and Denis Leamy are all seasoned internationals.

"We know we are in for the mother of all battles up front to recycle ball quickly and stop them slowing it down and strangling it. But after our win against Scarlets, confidence is high and with the game live on Setanta and in front of a sell-out crowd, we are all looking forward to playing on the big stage."

A controversial Thom Evans try handed the Warriors a 21-18 victory in their final Magners fixture of last season at Thomond Park.

And with wing ace Evans in sizzling form, Barclay admits that the pack must supply their back line in quick time if they are to utilize the searing speed of the Scotland international, who as a youth track star recorded 10.80seconds over 100 metres.

Barclay said: "Thom is in great try-scoring form and the two he got against Scarlets last Friday at Firhill were awesome. But really, the whole team played to their best against Scarlets and we are going to have to go up another notch against Munster."

Barclay knows Scotland coach Frank Hadden will be watching and that it's a great chance for him to cement his place in the Scotland squad for the upcoming Autumn Series.

He said: "The Autumn internationals against New Zealand, South Africa and Canada are not far away now and games as big as this one at Munster are a great opportunity to stake a claim for a place."

Warriors' Argentinian international winger Jose Maria Nunez Piossek's debut will be delayed due to red tape, while Lineen will make up to two changes to accommodate any injuries and squad rotation.
