FORMER British welterweight champion Kevin McIntyre has vowed he will win back the Lonsdale belt.

The Paisley boxer will re-launch his career at the Lagoon Centre in his home town as he tries to put behind him the first round demolition at the hands of Kell Brook that cost him his crown last November.

Mac said: "The defeat at the hands of Brook still hurts. I have had a few bad moments in my career and have always come back but that was tough.

"I think the key was my weight loss management. I maybe just left too much to take off and on the night, I admit that I felt weak.

"But to be fair to Brook he is a big puncher and he hit with a good shot and I have no complaints.

"Mow I must focus on taking my career forward again. My plan is to get a couple of decent wins under my belt and then hopefully put pressure on the British Boxing Board of Control to give me another shot at the British title.

"That defeat cost me the Lonsdale belt and I just hope that by the time I am back in the title frame that Brook is still the title holder. I've unfinished business with him."

McIntyre will provide the chief support for Willie Limond's WBU lightweight title fight and admits that he is looking forward to his first pro fight in his home town in 10 years.

Mac said: "For me it is a great way to get back into the ring after a bad loss. It is funny I have never fought in Paisley before, and hopefully, I can put on a decent performance for my family and fans who will be there.

"There is still a lot more to come from Kevin McIntyre."
