Saints are keeping tabs on QPR winger Matt Phillips, according to the Daily Mirror.
The paper claim Ronald Koeman is lining up the 24-year-old as a replacement for Eljero Elia, who they say is returning to Werder Bremen in the summer, at the end of his loan spell.
The Mirror add that the Saints boss has been attracted to Phillips because he is second only to Lionel Messi in terms of assists in Europe's top five leagues in 2015.
The club were linked with Phillips back in 2012, when he was at Blackpool, but he made a £5m switch to Loftus Road in 2013.
