Ronald Koeman is looking forward to a sea of orange at St Mary’s on Saturday.

Saints supporters have taken the Dutch legend to their hearts and are set to show their appreciation for his work this season in the penultimate home game, which sees the return of former boss Mauricio Pochettino with his Tottenham team.

The Daily Echo have reported all week on how fans have been encouraged to wear orange for the occasion and Koeman admits he flattered by the prospect of a day in his honour and cannot wait to see how it turns out.

“I heard something about that and I think it’s nice because it’s a nice appreciation of the fans about my job and I know the connection between the manager and the fans is on a very good level and I like to keep that,” he smiled.

“To keep that we have to win games. It’s all about winning games, winning points and always that connection is more easy to keep.”

When asked whether fans wearing orange was a good way to support him he said: “I think so, maybe yes.

“Many people from Holland and for sure there will be orange this Saturday.”
