Alan Robertson is correct when he says that the cut in funding to the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland (NYOS) will mean that the only young people who will be able to afford the course fees will come from fairly privileged backgrounds (Letters, July 7).
Fiona Hyslop, the Minister in charge of culture in Scotland, must ensure that NYOS, and the high-quality satellite organisations, are properly funded.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
