THE curtain fell on Scotland's largest music festival last night as organisers praised revellers for creating a sunshine atmosphere despite torrential downpours.

Tayside Police confirmed a drop in crime figures while the Scottish Ambulance Service said treatment rates during the Balado festival were low.

A headline set from the Foo Fighters closed the three-day event as revellers braved heavy downpours and thick mud to make the most of the final evening of the festival.

Huddled under umbrellas and wrapped in plastic ponchos, thousands crowded around the site’s 11 stages to make the most of a line-up which included Pulp, Blondie, Tinie Tempah and My Chemical Romance.

Fans packed the Slam Tent on Saturday as The Streets played their final Scottish gig before the band goes its separate ways, while Blondie and Tom Jones provided a retro vibe on the Main Stage, two of the most popular acts of the weekend.

Another of the highlights of the festival was Beyonce’s show-stopping set. Adding a touch of glamour to the mud, the Single Ladies singer showed how to command a stage with her dance moves and all-female band.

A DF Concerts spokesman added: “The atmosphere over the weekend has been excellent, with a really friendly and sociable ambiance created within the campsite once again.

“We have been delighted with the positive expansion of our Citizen T initiative this year, which encourages music fans to look after their fellow festival-goers, bin their rubbish and take home their tents.”
