Raynesway Construction, the Paisley-based civil engineering business of Balfour Beatty, yesterday said it had secured more than £12 million worth of work in the first half of 2011, writes Mark Smith.

The contracts awarded include drainage and landscaping at Scotland’s National Arena, the largest purpose-built indoor arena in Scotland at the SECC at Finnieston Quay, Glasgow, pictured, as well as works at the new Park Mains High School in Erskine for BAM Construction Scotland. Other projects include earthworks, drainage, substructure and car park works for a new Asda store in Stration, Edinburgh and the construction of an ash lagoon at Longannet Power Station, Fife for ScottishPower.
