LIAM Dawson is still available to play for Essex in the T20 Blast despite being recalled by Hampshire for Durham’s LV County Championship visit.
Dawson, who took 1-43 from 20 overs, was recalled after impressing in two Championship appearances for Essex (169 runs at 56.3 and four wickets at 18.25).
He will also play for Hampshire in the Royal London One-Day Cup, which includes a home game against Essex two weeks tomorrow.
Coach Dale Benkenstein said: “We’re happy with our T20 team so Daws is still available to play for Essex in that but he’s in our plans for 50-over cricket and we wanted him for this game for the extra batting.
“We wanted a spinning wicket so he was always an option and when Wheats dropped out recalling him was a necessity. But it was tough on Briggsy, who’s been consistent for us.”
