EX-FOLLAND Sports midfielder Pip Nolan was on the scoresheet as Steve Claridge’s Salisbury came from behind to stun AFC Bournemouth’s under-21s at the Ray Mac last night.

More than 1,700 fans poured through the turnstiles and were treated to a memorable night of football as goals by sub Nolan and match-winner Mark Ford cancelled out Harry Cornick’s first-half opener for the Cherries.

The visitors had Salisbury penned in their own half for much of the opening half-hour and took the lead when ex-Christchurch winger Cornick raced almost half the length of the pitch before slotting the ball past Gareth Barfoot in the home goal.

But, roared on by the 1,727 crowd, the Whites took the game to their lofty opponents in the second half, aided by the arrivals of Nolan, Ford, Eddie Perrett and former Eastleigh marksman Sam Wilson.

A set-piece by Callum Casson was headed into the path of Nolan to tap in the leveller, sparking bedlam behind the goal.

Brimming with energy and enthusiasm, Claridge’s re-formed side then chased a winner which duly arrived ten minutes from time following a costly slip-up from Elliott Ward.

Wilson unselfishly played in ex-Blackfield & Langley man Ford, whose composed finish brought a smile from watching ex-Whites manager Nick Holmes in the press box.

“They were a good side – for 30 minutes we couldn’t get near them,” said Claridge, who has recently had a hair transplant as part of an advertising campaign.

“One or two (Cherries) could easily play in the Championship or League One without a shadow of a doubt and we’ve beaten a really good side.

“I’m not surprised how well we’ve done as we’ve got a great group. I’ve been saying this for the last six or seven weeks.”

Salisbury’s squad also included towering centre-back Matt Burt who left Folland Sports towards the end of last season to join Team Solent.
