Ronald Koeman has been forced to name a surprise late injury doubt for tonight's game against Vitesse – himself.

The Saints manager was in fine form as he held his pre-match conference at the GelreDome and was overseeing training quite happily while it was open to the media.

However, in the half an hour that followed he injured his Achilles tendon.

Saints have said he may not be fit enough to attend tonight's match, in which the club are hoping to improve upon their 3-0 lead and a book a place in Friday's draw for the Europa League play-off round.

Koeman himself tried to make light of the situation.

He took to Twitter to say: “An extra injury to report ahead of the game tomorrow - I've injured my Achilles' tendon! Hopefully I won't be out of action for too long!”
