BLACKFIELD & Langley are up to second in the Sydenhams Premier Division.

After a goalless first half at Brockenhurst this evening, the Watersiders drummed up two goals in the second half to lift them above Andover Town on goal difference.

Dan Munday got them off the mark, capitalising on a defensive slip to net for the sixth time in four games, before ex-Dorchester Town midfielder Sam Lanahan scored for the third match running.

Despite a strong start to the season, Blackfield are content to stay below the radar. "We won't be crowing from the rooftops," said co-assistant boss Chris Farrell. "This is a big two weeks for the club with the FA Cup on Saturday (home to Bemerton HH) and the FA Vase to follow (away to Alresford, September 5).

AFC Portchester blew their chance to join leaders Horndean on 13 points, beaten 1-0 at Whitchurch United where Danny Phillips' goal proved the difference between the sides after Royals goalkeeper Lloyd Thomas had dropped a corner.

Portchester had their chances but were denied by some inspired saves from United's ex-Romsey keeper Brad Snelling.

Folland Sports banked their first point of the season in a 1-1 draw at Verwood Town.

Despite being reduced to ten men early on, the Planemakers seized a 78th-minute lead through Lewis Fear.

The Potters hit back four minutes later with a Joe Wood equaliser.

Fawley's game against Cowes Sports was postponed after heavy rain.
