VICTOR Wanyama has warned his Kenyan team-mates to be alert to the dangers that Cape Verde pose when they go head-to-head for a place in the group stages of the 2018 African World Cup qualifiers.

Wanyama and the Harambee Stars take on Cape Verde in the first leg of their second round qualifier tomorrow afternoon in Nairobi (1pm kick off) before travelling to Praia for the second match on Monday.

The Saints man is wary of the Blue Sharks’ extended preparations for the double header, but is confident of getting through to the next round.

“We must take our preparations seriously because we are playing a very good team in an important competition,” he said.

“We have not played any friendly match while our opponents have been in Europe in a training camp and it tells the difference.”

Sadio Mane meanwhile remains a doubt for Senegal's World Cup qualifier first-leg against Madagascar in Antananarivo (11.30am), after apparently sustaining an ankle injury.

Aliou Cisse’s squad will play their home leg on Monday in Dakar, with Mane hoping to be fully ready for that one.
