VICTOR Wanyama and his Kenyan team-mates have held the country’s Football Federation to ransom over unpaid expenses.

As reported recently, the Saints midfielder was left unhappy at having to pay his own travels costs for international games.

And, today, in a demonstration of player power, the Harambee Stars players refused to travel to Cape Verde for their second-leg World Cup qualifier unless they were paid back in full.

The debacle eventually resolved itself with Wanyama fully refunded.

“Everybody has gotten his share and now we are ready to go there and do the job,” said the 24-year-old.

“They (the Kenyan FA) have also refunded air tickets for the foreign based players who produced the tickets but those who didn’t submit their tickets will be refunded later.”

He added: “Preparation has not been the best and we have been singing about it so hopefully it will change in future.

“We are now focusing on the game and hopefully we will deliver.

“Everyone wants to travel early so that we can have a feel of the pitch and acclimatise with the weather, but it has not been the case.

“There has been dragging with allowances not being paid.”

Kenya take a 1-0 lead into the second-leg in Praia. The winner of tomorrow’s tie will get a place in the group stage section of qualifying.
