SALISBURY FC will be away to another of last season's FA Vase semi-finalists in the third round.

Steve Claridge’s side will make the trip to north Wiltshire to play Highworth Town on December 12 after a comfortable 4-0 win over AFC St Austell.

Winger Daniel Young scored a spectacular volley and made goals for Brandon Murphy and captain Kane O’Keefe before Taurean Roberts completed Saturday’s rout in injury time, two minutes after coming on for his debut.

The result completed a good weekend for the Whites, following confirmation that the club has extended its lease on the Ray Mac Stadium until the end of next season.

Highworth were beaten by eventual winners North Shields in last season’s last four.

Salisbury have already been to Highworth this season, winning 6-1 against Wroughton in the Wilts Senior Cup.

"What stuck with me was the slope there," said Claridge. "I've seen some slopes on pitches in my time in football but this is the most extreme one!

"I had trouble walking up it! We may have to adapt the way we play. Add to that the fact that Highworth are clearly a good side and this will be a tough, tough tie.

"I said after the second round that we couldn't have had a much tougher draw, being given semi-finalists from last season, but we have - semi-finalists from last season away from home.

"Having said that, it's another big game in a season that's bringing plenty of them now, which is what you want, and it's a game we will look forward to eagerly.

The winner of the tie, which is one of 32, gets £1,300 in prize money.
