SAINTS legend Alan Shearer has urged out-of-form Graziano Pelle NOT to give up or listen to any negativity because the goals “will eventually come back”.

Since finding the net against Bournemouth four months ago, Pelle hasn’t added to his nine-goal tally in 13 games.

The big Italian has struggled with injury and is not finding good form in front of goal forthcoming.

But former Dell favourite Shearer has told the 30-year-old not to give-in and keep battling because the drought will relent.

“Keep going it will change,” he advised. “When you’re playing you think it’s the end of the world when you’re not scoring.

“That’s the way it should be, but you realise when you stop playing that ‘what was I worrying about?’

“Because the goals will eventually come back and that’s the life of a striker.”

The 45-year-old believes, from experience, that Pelle needs to keep working hard and getting into dangerous areas where he can score from.

He also told the former Feyenoord man not to listen to any doubters.

“The thing to do is keep getting in those positions,” he said. “Don’t be scared of people moaning and groaning that you missed.

“The time to worry is when you’re not getting any chances.”

Pelle looked highly frustrated during Saturday’s 1-1 draw at St Mary’s with Sunderland, missing one particular opportunity in the second-half.

He controlled the ball well, but was unable to dispatch his shot inside the box with any venom.

“It’s natural when you’re not scoring, you are that desperate to get back on the score-sheet again,” Shearer said.

“You’d do anything to get back into it but that will change.”
