VICTOR Wanyama has issued a parting message to Saints after revealing he has passed his medical ahead of an £11m move to Tottenham.

The Kenyan admitted to the media in Africa that he will always "have a fond place" in his heart for Saints after confirming that his three-year spell at St Mary's was about to come to an end.

Wanyama arrived home from Kenya on Sunday night to complete a move to White Hart Lane where he will link up once more with former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino.

The deal is yet to be completed officially, but is expected to be finalised on Thursday.

Wanyama has previously paid tribute to the "awesome" Saints supporters who "always showed him love", but made a final statement as his career reaches a "new dawn".

"I am indeed elated at passing my medicals at Tottenham," he told African football website soka25east.com.

"It’s a new dawn in my career and I believe I will give my best for my new team."

He added: "I want to thank Southampton management and fans for the exceptional time we had together, I will always have a fond place for them in my heart."

It's been clear for some time that Wanyama's Saints career would come to an end this summer.

The combative midfielder has had a new contract offer on the table for some time at St Mary's, but has shown no indication that he was prepared to extend his spell on the south coast after arriving from Celtic for £12.5m in July 2013.

The 24-year-old, who turns 25 on Saturday, has a year left on his contract, but Saints are keen to recoup some money on him.

That has left Saints with little alternative than to cash in this summer, with the only other option allowing to leave for free next summer.
