LIVERPOOL are reportedly close to signing yet another player from Saints, according to the national press.

The Sun newspaper claims the Reds are on the verge of completing a £25m move for Sadio Mane - although previous reports from the nationals state that Saints would only accept £40m for Mane.

The Senegalese international scored four goals in just three games against Jurgen Klopp's side in 2015/16.

Mane netted Saints' leveller in last October's 1-1 league draw at Anfield.

He also put Saints ahead in December's League Cup quarter final at St Mary's - though Liverpool hit back to win 6-1.

Mane then scored twice as Saints came from 0-2 down to beat Liverpool 3-2 in the league at St Mary's in March.

Mane endured a frustrating season in front of goal, but hit the headlines late on when he belted a hat-trick in a 4-2 win against Manchester Citi at St Mary's.

If Mane does go, he will be the fifth player to leave Saints in the last three summers for Anfield.

Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne are the others.

In addition, Liverpool also signed defender Steven Caulker on loan from QPR last January - after Caulker had spent the first half of the season on loan at Saints.
