ADAM Kelly has left Southern League new boys Salisbury after failing to agree a new deal.

The ex-Winchester City and Bashley midfielder returned to the Ray Mac in February following a spell with Weymouth.

He notched up 13 appearances and scored two goals, one of which came in the home victory over Horndean which clinched Steve Claridge's Whites the Sydenhams Premier title.

A Salisbury statement said: "The club would like to thank Adam for his service and his role in the winning of the Sydenhams Wessex League championship and wishes him well in the future."

Kelly himself released a statement on Twitter expressing his disappointment at leaving.

He said: "Unfortunately, I've been unable to strike a deal with Steve Claridge to remain at the Ray Mac for next season.

"I'd like to thank all the players and staff for making me feel so welcome during my short return.

"I genuinely feel honoured to be part of the club's inaugural season and play a small part in helping the team win the league during their first season.

"Good luck to all involved with the club for next season and beyond, disappointed I won't be part of the journey."

Kelly, head of academy sports science at Exeter City FC, made 77 appearances and netted 14 times for the old Salisbury City club in a two-year spell.
