OLI Bromby and his Great Britain teammates zoomed through to tomorrow’s 4x100 metres relay final at the IAAF World Under-20 Championships in Poland.

With individual finalist Rechmial Miller ruled out by injury and Cameron Tindle rested prior to his 200m final, Britain were not at full strength tonight.

But with Southampton powerhouse Bromby running a superb second leg, they sped to a clear victory.

Lead-off runner Zanson Plummer handed the baton to Bromby a close second and the Shirley-based sprinter ran a destructive back leg, overhauling the Italians to hand over a good lead to Ryan Gorman.

Gorman continued to pour on the pressure before anchor Gerald Matthew brought the team home in 39.91 – the fastest time by a GB Junior team in 2016.

Speaking from Poland, Bromby’s coach Gary Gray said: “There was certainly more in the tank and, with Tindle to come back into the team tomorrow evening (6.35pm UK time), hopes are high for a faster run.

“A superlative performance will be called for though, as the GB team rank only sixth of the finalists."
