HAMBLE Club have welcomed two more new faces aboard for their maiden voyage into Sydenhams One.
The merry Monks – just up from the Hampshire Premier League – have signed Murray Holmes and James Vinton.
Holmes, a former AFC Bournemouth trainee, has already played Sydenhams football with Premier Division outfit Brockenhurst.
Hamble tried to sign him last season, but he spent much of it sidelined by injury.
“Murray’s normally a left-back, but we’ve also played him left midfield or central midfield in pre-season and he’s looked very comfortable,” said joint manager Ben Kneller.
“He’s fitted in well and the lads have really taken to him.”
Centre-back Vinton is another ex-Brockenhurst player who has also turned out for Hamble’s neighbours Folland Sports.
“James has played for Brock and Follands, so he should be fine in Wessex One,” said Kneller. “He’s great for us because he comes from Netley, so he’s a local lad as well.”
Vinton and Holmes join a host of new Hamble Club signings, including Matt Burt, Wayne Boud, Mitch Parker, Jamie Mansell and goalkeeper Sam Webb.
Their pre-season build-up continues tomorrow evening (Friday, July 29) at home to Whitchurch United (7.30pm). They have already played the Jam Boys once this summer, winning 1-0.
