CARL Poore quit as manager of Hamworthy United after just 19 games in charge of the Sydenhams Wessex Premier outfit.

Poore, who replaced Shane Traynor in May, left earlier this week with the Hammers sitting second from bottom following two wins and four draws from their first 13 league games.

But things perked up dramatically today as the Hammers - under the caretaker charge of Dan Pidgley - pulled off an unlikely 1-0 victory at league leaders Moneyfields cpurtesy of Steve Smith's winner.

A club statement regarding Poore's departure read: “It is with regret that we have to announce the resignation of Carl Poore as first-team manager.

“Carl feels that he is unable to commit the time needed to manage the team due to family commitments.

“Dan Pidgley will take over the running of the first team until we can find a replacement manager.

“We would like to thank Carl for all his work he has done and wish him the very best for the future.”
