TEN-MAN AFC Totton stumbled to an unlucky 3-2 defeat at Didcot Town last night.

With the announcement of a new manager not yet forthcoming and caretaker boss Andy Darnton still away, ex-Romsey boss Wayne Mew again took temporary charge.

Buoyed by victory over Slimbridge on Saturday, the Stags made another positive start with central defender Pat Wilson heading them into a sixth-minute lead.

More Totton chances presented themselves for Charlie Gunson, Mike Gosney and Nick Watts before Adam Learoyd pulled the Railwaymen back on terms following a 16th-minute free kick.

The Stags' defence was breached again on 41 minutes as Jordan Graham gave Didcot a 2-1 half-time lead.

But, come the sixth of the second half, a close contest was level again as Mike Gosney struck from the penalty spot.

The sending-off of Sam Roberts, on as a substitute for the injured Jack Vallis, proved to be Totton's undoing.

And it was Sam Barder's smart finish for Diddy that took the game beyond the Stags.

Mew tweeted: "@AFCTotton gutted to go down 3-2 tonight. In the game @ 2-2 when we had a player sent off on the hour mark only to concede in the 80 minute."

The positive news for the third-to-bottom Stags was heavy defeats for the two clubs below them. Bridgwater got battered 5-0 at Barnstaple, while Wantage were whipped 7-1 by Shortwood.

*Salisbury's game at Paulton Rovers was suspended after half-an-hour when thick fog descended on Winterfield Road with the score still 0-0.

Match officials hoped conditions might improve after a 15-minute break. Instead, visibility deteriorated leaving them with no option but to abandon proceedings.

Subject to league approval, the match will now be played on Tuesday, January 10. Paulton have announced it will be free admission.
