ADAM Wilde will be No2 to new AFC Totton boss Louis Langdown in a player/assistant manager’s role.
The experienced midfielder is leaving Gosport Borough after seven years to join Langdown at the Testwood Stadium.
Wilde, who works as a barber in Southampton, boasts a wealth of experience with the likes of Cambridge United, Cambridge City and Weymouth and was capped for England C.
He was an AFC Totton player, making over 40 appearances for the Stags, prior to joining Gosport’s meteoric rise to the Vanarama National League South.
Now 37, the same age as Langdown, he said: “At this stage of my career I felt it was the right thing to do. I’m going to be Louis’ number two, but I’ll still be playing.
“I’ve played at a good level and I hope to push that experience onto younger players at Totton.”
Wilde joined Borough when they were playing at Totton’s current level, the Southern One South & West, and went on to enjoy two promotions and several cup runs for Alex Pike’s men.
He played in both semi-final legs of the 2013/14 FA Trophy, but did not get to play in the Wembley final.
Gosport have extended their sincere thanks to Wilde for “seven years of incredible service.”
