ONLY two members of the Hapoel squad have experience of playing in England.

They are defender Miguel Vitor and striker Ben Sahar.

Vitor’s first two games while on loan to Leicester City in 2010/11 were in Hampshire - and the second was a painful experience for him.

Vitor’s Foxes debut was in a 2-1 League Cup win at Portsmouth’s Fratton Park in September 2010.

He made his league debut for the club against same opponents at the same venue just three days later.

There was a different ending, though.

Vitor was dismissed after only 31 minutes with Pompey already 1-0 up in the Championship fixture. The hosts went on to win 6-1.

Vitor, a former Benfica colleague of Saints skipper Jose Fonte, went on to make 15 league appearances for Leicester that season.

Sahar spent three years at Chelsea, between 2006 and 2009, making just three sub appearances in the Premier League.

He had loan spells at QPR, Sheffield Wednesday and Portsmouth (though never made a single first team appearance during his time at Fratton Park in the first half of 2008/09).

Sahar joined Espanyol in the summer of 2009 for £1m - signed by none other than Mauricio Pochettino just a few months into his first managerial stint.

Sahar only played four league games in 2009/10 before spending the next two years farmed out on loan to Hapoel Tel Aviv and French club Auxerre.

He joined Hertha Berlin and Willem II prior to returning to his home country in 2015 to sign for Be’er Sheva.
