SHOT put ace Serena Vincent has added another title and a championship best to her blossoming collection.

The Bursledon-based athlete conjured up an outstanding final throw of 14.18 metres to lift the under-17 women’s shot put crown at the South of England Indoor Championships at Lee Valley.

Not only was it a competition record, but it was the seventh best all-time indoor throw for the under-17 age-group.

Vincent had two no throws in her first three attempts, but managed to qualify for the final three puts with a 12.34-metre effort.

She took the lead with her fourth put of 13.49, had another no-throw in round five, before pulling a 14.18 beauty out of the bag. It broke the previous championship best held by her City of Portsmouth AC training partner Gaia Osborne.

Southampton AC all-rounder Amaya Scott picked up the bronze medal with 12.69, behind Chelmsford AC runner-up Jessica Hopkins (13.08).

Vincent, who heads the national under-17 rankings with a personal best 14.45, will be back at Lee Valley on January 21 for the London Indoor Games.
