SAINTS have signed Marek Saganowski on a three-year deal.

The Polish striker was unveiled at a press conference at St Mary's at lunchtime today.

Saganowski, 28, signs from French club Troyes for an undisclosed fee believed to be around the £680,000 mark.Saganowski proved a huge hit after coming in on loan at the end of last season, scoring 10 goals in 13 starts to fire Saints to the play-offs.That sparkling form attracted interest from Leicester, Watford and Burnley among others. They had pre-agreed a fee with Troyes as part of the loan deal and exercised their option by the June 8 deadline. The deal has now been finalised to coincide with the return of the first-team squad for pre-season training on Monday. Manager George Burley said: "It has been pending for a while but I am delighted everything is sorted."He is a smashing player who showed his qualities at the end of last season and I am very pleased to have him on board for the new campaign".Saganowski's scoring streak also saw him reclaim his place in the Polish international squad at the end of the campaign. He was left out during a wretched time at Troyes where a change of manager saw him fall out of favour following his £1m move from Portuguese side Guimaraes where he had scored 12 league goals in 31 appearances. It meant he had barely played for a year before joining Saints but he proved an instant hit with the fans who were desperate to see him sign full-time.He passed a medical at St Mary's last night and tied up the loose ends of the deal this morning.
