LYMINGTON Town have achieved their first back-to-back wins under Dave Lewis’s tenure.

Having seen off Hamworthy 3-0 at home, Town came back from behind to triumph 3-1 in Saturday’s early kick-off at Fawley AFC.

Quite how Lymington managed to go into half-time dressing room 2-1 up was a mystery to former Folland Sports boss Lewis.

Fawley were much the better side early on but, having failed to build on Kieran Roche’s fifth-minute opener, they were punished by goals from Brad Strickland and Sam House.

Ex-Oiler Charlie Willett topped off Lymington’s win with a third goal after the break.

“The pitch was really difficult for both teams. It was muddy but quite bobbly as well,” said Lewis.

“We deserved to go 1-0 down. Fawley were quicker to the ball than us and played the conditions better. If I’m honest, they could have got more and I couldn’t understand how we’d managed to go in 2-1 up.

“But we were a much better side second half and, in the end, we deserved the victory.

“It could have been so much different, but we’ve had a lot of bad luck ourselves recently and we deserved the rub of the green.”

Lymington – home to Bemerton this weekend – are a steady 11th in the table, but second-to-bottom Fawley are deep in trouble.

The Oilers are one of three sides locked on 25 points, four clear of bottom club Verwood, but have played four games more than Whitchurch and Cowes Sports.
