BLACKFIELD & Langley will go about their business as usual amid talk that Sydenhams Premier leaders Moneyfields are facing a possible points deduction.

The second-placed Watersiders, currently ten points behind Moneys with a game in hand, showed their stomach for a fight with an impressive 5-1 victory at Team Solent on Saturday, spearheaded by ex-Saint Jamie White’s hat-trick.

Moneys kept their title bid on course by beating Brockenhurst 2-1 at Dover Road, but the win came amid speculation that they had inadvertently fielded a player when he was under suspension last month.

Ironically the player in question, Ash Howes, was signed from – of all people – Blackfield, and has since left Moneys to join Horndean.

The issue is currently under investigation by the Hampshire FA who will pass on their findings to the Sydenhams League.

While Blackfield will naturally be keeping tabs on developments at Dover Road, assistant boss Chris Farrell was keener to chat about the Watersiders' “complete performance” at Team Solent.

“It was as good as it gets away from home," he enthused.

“We came out of the blocks at a ferocious pace, rocked them back and Manny Soetan put a 20-yard free-kick into the top corner for 1-0.

“Jamie White’s then had a header saved from two yards out and you wonder if that’s going to be a game- changer.

“But, two minutes later, Jamie was brought down for a penalty, which he scored, and we dominated the game.

“We didn’t give (Solent’s star man) Jesse Waller-Lassen a sniff.

“The pitch was a glue pot, but perhaps that suited us because we’ve got powerful players.

“For the third goal Liam Robinson’s left their centre-halves for dead and popped one into the corner from 20 yards.

“Jamie scored two more in the second half and Luke Winsper hit the post.

“Team Solent got one back when Sam Poole was penalised for fouling Waller-Lassen, but we didn’t think it was a penalty. The boys were disappointed because they wanted a clean sheet.

“It was important we won because we had to keep on Moneyfields’ shirt-tails and lots of players had their best performances of the season.

"To get that result with Kane Daysh, Joey Byrne and Charlie Knight still missing made it even better.

“Whatever happens now (with regards to Moneys’ possible points deduction) is their business. What clubs do with their administration is nothing to do with us.

“They’re ten points clear and it’s going to be extremely difficult to reel them in. But they’ve got Team Solent and Sholing to play in the same week soon, so who knows?”

Moneys, already without unwell skipper Steve Hutchings, had Alex Shephard sent off at the start of the second half against Brockenhurst with the score 1-1.

Dan Wooden had cancelled out Matt Vokes’ Brock opener and the ex-Gosport man struck again on 70 minutes with a penalty awarded for handball.

Brock visit Horndean in the league tomorrow (Tuesday), while Moneys host Bemerton in a Russell Cotes Cup semi-final.
