SALISBURY City have signed Team Solent captain Jesse Waller-Lassen in time for Saturday’s Evostik Southern League S & W showdown with runaway leaders Hereford (3pm).

The former Spurs trainee has signed a dual registration enabling him to join Steve Claridge’s injury-ravaged squad as Salisbury try to stop Hereford from clinching the title tomorrow - while boosting their own play-off hopes.

Waller-Lassen, who joined Bishop’s Stortford after being released by Spurs, led Solent them to the Wessex League Cup last season and the last 16 of this year’s FA Vase.

Claridge has signed another 24 year-old in Franklyn Clarke, from Southern Premier outfit Dorchester Town.

Clarke had spells at Blackfield and Langley and Wimborne Town last season before being offered a contract with National League York City, who released him to join Dorchester.

“These are two quality players,” said Claridge. “We needed to strengthen our squad ahead of the run-in and hopefully the play-offs, and I am delighted to get them.

“Jesse was a thorn in our side playing for Solent last year and Franklyn also caught my eye when he did well in Blackfield’s 2-1 win at the Ray Mac last season.”

Waller-Lassen will provide cover for the injured Justin Bennett (hamstring).

Hereford will be champions if they win and Taunton and Tiverton both slip up.
