LEWI Brailey’s sweet left foot settled Saturday’s Sydenhams Premier New Forest derby 1-0 in Bashley’s favour in front of 240-strong crowd.

It left Lymington Town ruefully reflecting on a missed penalty and the late first-half dismissal of dual-signed Eastleigh winger Owen Fee.

Fee was at the heart of the first-half drama when he was brought down by over-eager Bash debutant Rian Drake at the expense of a 30th-minute spot kick.

Former Bashley favourite Jack Odam stepped up to take it, but it was saved by home keeper Joe Prodomo, diving to his left.

Town’s troubles doubled on the cusp of half-time when, having been on the end of a few poor tackles, Fee picked up two yellow cards in as many minutes, reducing the visitors to ten men.

Lymington made light of that setback and began the second half on top but, with 15 minutes to play, a free-kick proved their undoing.

Poised some 25 yards out, Brailey caught the Town defence cold with a low, hard shot into the bottom corner.

Ten-man Lymington pressed hard for a leveller with Matt Page, Sam House and new signing Ashley Jarvis spearheading the assault, but Prodomo frustrated them with two timely late saves.

Action returns to Bashley Road tomorrow evening (Tuesday, 7.45pm) when Tom Prodomo’s men host Team Solent.
