FORMER AFC Totton boss Steve Hollick has reverted to his old role of goalkeeping coach – with the Stags’ Southern One South & West rivals Winchester City.

Hollick, who spent 18 months in charge at Totton and had latterly served as Stags' treasurer, is part of a new coaching/management team being assembled by City boss Craig Davis.

Gareth Byres, who had been running Winchester’s under-16s, has stepped up as first-team coach.

He shares that title with Richard Morse, one of Davis’s former Bashley teammates, who had a spell as Pat McManus’s assistant at Brockenhurst.

Pete Millard, a former Bashley stalwart, is the club’s new chief scout, Ryan Andress is reserve team boss and Elliott Trodd is head of youth development.

Under-16 and under-18 managers are to be confirmed and City are still keen to appoint an assistant to player/boss Davis if the right man comes along.

“We’re trying to get a good team together,” explained director of football Dave Malone.

“It’s a lot more important than people think for the manager to have a good group of people around him.

“We’re still talking to people with regards to the assistant manager’s job. We don’t want to jump in and get the wrong person.”

City have confirmed that forward Howard Neighbour and winger Joe Briggs have been released.

They follow central defenders Robbie Matthews and Jamie Ford out of the Denplan City Ground door.

Matthews has signed as player/assistant to new boss Rae Hughes at Wessex Premier outfit Bemerton Heath Harlequins.

Winchester have several new players lined up for the 2017/18 season but will not officially announce them until after June 1.
