Twenty wickets fell for 169 runs at uncovered Rowlands Avenue, where Fair Oak lost – despite having British Gas Southern Premier League Division 3 hosts Waterlooville reeling at 19-5 at one stage.
Rhys Oxley produced astonishing figures of one wicket for two runs off his ten overs, eight of which were maidens, while Andy Mash (3-24) and Ross Stewart (4-14) carved deep into the Ville top order.
Jon Hudson (34) and Max Goddard (29) raised Ville’s total to 97 (later reduced to 94 by rain) with what proved a decisive stand.
Sam Hillman’s 4-16 spell reduced Oaks to an equally desperate 25-5 before Oxley and Assad Abbas (18) rallied.
But with five batsmen trapped leg before, Fair Oak tumbled to 72 all out and a 22-run defeat.
