FORMER Fareham Town boss Steve Stone is back in non-League football – as a member of Alex Pike’s Gosport Borough management team.

Stone will take on the role of first-team coach, replacing Tony Stares who has succeeded Mark Hook as chairman.

Stone parted company with Fareham at the start of this year, having been in charge of the Reds since the summer of 2015.

He boasts a wealth of coaching experience with the Royal Navy and Army representative teams and holds both a UEFA A Licence and UEFA goalkeeping A Licence.

He is also an FA tutor, delivering all FA/UEFA courses up to the UEFA B Licence.

Stone has agreed to start work with Borough when pre-season starts later this month.

Danny Thompson, the club’s newly-installed assistant manager, has confirmed that goalkeeper Nick Jordan has committed himself to Gosport’s upcoming Southern Premier League campaign which follows relegation from the National League South.

Fellow ’keepers Ellis Grant and Lewis Watch are also staying put, along with Declan McCarthy, Alfie Lis, Connor May and ex-Basingstoke Town man Richie Whittingham.

Liam Kimber, formerly of Fareham Town and Havant & Waterlooville, has also signed along with former Boro' player Robbie Pittman, who was once part of their Southern League South & West side.
