RELEASED Eastleigh striker Scott Wilson will be back at the Silverlake Stadium next season – sporting the colours of National League rivals Macclesfield Town.

The pacy 24-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the Silkmen almost a year to the day after doing likewise for the Spitfires.

Wilson, who began his career in the Bristol City academy, arrived at Stoneham Lane last June having scored 24 goals in 42 appearances for National League South club Weston-super-Mare where he was named manager's player-of-the-year.

Having picked up an injury early last season, he played in fits and starts under four different Spitfires managers, featuring mainly as an impact player off the bench.

He was one of seven players not to be offered a new contract when Eastleigh’s retained list was drawn up in early May and left the Silverlake having scored six goals in 12 starts for the Hampshire club.

Discussing his Macclesfield move, Wilson said: "I was always going to aim to stay at this level and, when the chance came to come to a big club like this, I took it straight away."

John Askey’s Silkmen finished ninth in the National League, six places and 11 points above Eastleigh, and lost the FA Trophy final 3-2 to York City at Wembley.
