NETLEY Central Sports claimed a higher division scalp in the first round of the Hampshire Premier League Cup.

Alex White (2) and Harry Osman netted for the Division 1 hosts as they defeated top flight Winchester Castle 3-2. Judd (penalty) and Craig Phillips replied.

The top two teams in the Premier Division eased through to the second round.

HPL leaders Paulsgrove came from behind to beat Clanfield 3-1 with goals from Tommy Woodward, Adam Fisher and Jimmy Hird.

Infinity, second in the top flight, won 3-0 at third placed Locks Heath with second half strikes from Andrew Powell, Sam Floyd and sub Ryan Lambert.

Sub Callum Benfield struck a hat-trick as Liss Athletic romped to an 8-1 success at lower division Michelmersh & Timsbury.

Josh Benfield had netted twice in the first half with Brandon Bowman (2) and Tom Leigh completing the rout. Cain Prentice was another sub in the goals, as defending HPL champions Bush Hill won 4-2 at Four Marks. He scored twice with Nathan Gray and James Lavender also on target.

Tom King struck an 86th minute leveller for Upham at home to Lyndhurst, who had gone ahead through Chris Pye. The New Forest visitors won 8-7 on penalties. Fleetlands netted through Alex Radford, Jordan Golding and Ryan Morning in a 3-1 home win over Hayling.

Goals from McCracken, Graham and Scammell gave Stockbridge a similar success at Colden Common, Ben Thomson replying from the penalty spot.

Guy Bewick notched a hat-trick for South Wonston Swifts in the only HPL Cup second round tie played.

But he still finished on the losing side as top flight strugglers Hedge End Rangers defeated their second tier visitors 4-3 with goals from Goose (2), Bayo and Costa.

Another hat-trick hero was Sway’s Ryan Brading, whose treble helped his side won 3-2 at Overton in the only Premier Division game played.

In the HPL Combination, Bush Hill thumped Winchester Castle 5-1 with goals from Charlie Coombs (2), Martin McCann (2) and Perry Coombs. Ash Shergold replied.
