FOUR Salisbury players and two each from Winchester City and AFC Totton will get the chance to play for England C manager Paul Fairclough next month.

Whites quartet Charlie Searle, Jake Wannell, Tom Whelan and Elliot Wheeler, Winchester duo Oli Bailey and Josh Harfield and Totton pair Jack Smith and Curtis Young have been called up for an FA representative squad taking part in the Western League’s 125th anniversary match.

The fixture, to be played at Melksham Town FC on Wednesday, October 11, will see the FA XI take on a Western League rep side.

Salisbury’s director of football Mick Jenkins will also be involved as Fairclough’s assistant.

"I think it’s a nice reward for the players and for myself," said the former Havant & Waterlooville boss.

"It's a great opportunity for those from this club and others involved to showcase their talents on the night.”

Striker Bailey and defender Harfield’s inclusion is a source of great pride to Winchester, who said: "This is a huge honour for both young players and we are delighted that WCFC are to be represented at such a prestigious occasion.”

Totton boss Louis Langdown agreed: "It's refreshing that Paul and his staff have selected young players from the Southern League and shows how good the talent pool is at this level.

"I'm really pleased for both players and hopefully they will get the chance to represent themselves and AFC Totton and gain an England C cap.

"Fingers crossed more of this current crop will get the opportunity through their hard work and quality.

"Adam (assistant boss Adam Wilde) has an England C cap, so will be able to offer first-hand experience and support to both Jack and Curtis in the build-up to the game."

Tickets for the match are priced at £3 adults, £1 concessions and children free.
