BLACKFIELD & Langley and Alresford Town go into Southampton Senior Cup battle at Gang Warily tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.30pm) on the back of pleasing Sydenhams Premier Division victories.

Second-placed Blackfield got back to winning ways in the league with a 2-0 home result over Baffins Milton Rovers, while Alresford eased into the top four with a 5-0 demolition job on Amesbury Town.

Sam Burt and ex-Amesbury player/boss Adam Pearson put Alresford 2-0 at half-time. Chris Mason and Aaron Blaxall doubled the Magpies’ lead before Ben ‘Chalky’ White made it five goals in five games since arriving from Winchester City.

Meanwhile first-half goals from Sam Poole and Rudy Plummer secured Blackfield the three points against ten-man Baffins.

The winners of tomorrow's Southampton Senior Cup tie will travel to Team Solent in the quarter-finals.

And Alresford manager Richard Luffman expects to be tested by a Blackfield side he rates as the best in the league.

“Blackfield are the only team to completely dominate possession against us and, in my opinion, have the best squad in the Wessex,” he said.

Luffman intends to make several changes from Saturday, explaining: “We’ve taken the stance all season that we will rotate players for the cups and that won’t change for Tuesday.

"I’d expect to see four or five changes from the weekend.”
