EASTLEIGH tumbled to 19th in the Vanarama National League as Sutton United were led to top spot by former Silverlake boss Paul Doswell.
Sutton ran out 2-0 winners at Gander Green Lane with goals by Tom Bolarinwa and ex-Otterbourne and Salisbury striker Tommy Wright.
Bolarinwa struck in the 13th minute, pick-pocketing Callum Howe on the corner of his own area before tucking the ball under the helpless Graham Stack.
Wright then wrapped up victory for the hosts in the 82nd minute with a sweetly executed lob.
To rub salt in Eastleigh’s wounds, the ball had been flicked on to Wright by former Spitfires striker Ross Lafayette.
Mark Yeates shone for Eastleigh and went close at the end, playing a neat one-two with Craig McAllister and unleashing a rasping shot that Us keeper Jamie Butler managed to tip over.
The Spitfires – home to Bromley next Saturday - are now without a win in six league games.
