FORMER Romsey Town boss Danny Barker has joined the management team at Sydenhams Division One rivals Whitchurch United.
Barker will be number two to new Jam Boys manager Glyn Cherrett at Longmeadow.
It’s been all change at the north Hampshire club over Christmas with Carl Bennett – another ex-Romsey boss – leaving the helm after three years to become Alex Pike’s right-hand man at Evo-Stik Premier outfit Gosport Borough.
Commenting on Barker’s appointment, a Whitchurch United statement said: “Danny is an engaging and committed individual who will bring experience and league knowledge which, combined with (coaches) Tita Martins and Damien Hack, makes the management team at Whitchurch complete.”
Barker, a former player with Portsmouth, Basingstoke Town and AFC Totton, boasts a wealth of managerial experience with the likes of Colden Common - with whom he won the Hampshire Premier title - and Lymington Town.
The new Jam Boys management team will take their first game in charge away at Verwood Town on Saturday (January 6).
