FIRST-HALF goals by Dan Munday and Brad Strickland earned Bashley a 2-1 Sydenhams Premier Division win at Fareham Town.

A rare early attack by the Creeksiders saw an Ethan Jones free-kick scrape the post, but it was Bash who took the lead on 14 minutes when Munday chased a long ball down the middle and outpaced the home defence before depositing a low, hard drive into the bottom corner.

Nine minutes later it was 2-0 to the Foresters – Strickland latching onto Conor Whiteley’s well-orchestrated low, hard corner kick and crashing a dream of a volley over the head of keeper Luke Douglas.

Douglas was called into action moments later, stopping a Conor Whiteley effort with his foot and, after his opposite number Mike Edgar had saved Craig Hardy’s header, Douglas again foiled Whiteley, this time making a fingertip save from his whipped, dipping shot.

The second half was a more even contest, but it was still the visitors who looked most likely to score with Munday, Harrison White and Lewis Ross all having chances.

As time ran out, Fareham belatedly pulled one back from a Josh Holmes corner - Curt Robbins’ close-range finish denying Edgar a clean sheet.

To cap a forgetable afternoon for Fareham, skipper Holmes was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Bashley, 11th, are due to host Cowes Sports tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45pm).

BROCKENHURST savoured the rare treat of back-to-back Sydenhams Premier wins in a 3-1 success at Baffins Milton Rovers.

A couple of Mitch Speechley-Price goals and one by Will Tickle did the job for the 18th-placed Foresters, whose manager Pat McManus tweeted: “When we put that side out and play like that we’ll give anyone a difficult afternoon.”
