EASTLEIGH are intent on being party-poopers in Saturday's early kick-off (12.30pm) against champions elect Macclesfield Town.
BT Sport are sending cameras to the Silverlake Stadium knowing victory will secure the Silkmen the Vanarama National League crown.
But if Eastleigh assistant manager Ben Strevens has anything to do with it, Macc’s celebrations will be put on hold.
Strevens, who stepped in for the unwell Andy Hessenthaler for Tuesday’s 1-0 home defeat by Ebbsfleet, said: “Macclesfield are coming here to win the league and they’ve done brilliant this season.
"With the greatest respect, I think they’ve maybe overachieved for what people thought would be the top team in the league.
“I hope they win it further down the line, but I don’t want them celebrating on our pitch.
"It’ll be a tough game, with an early kick-off in front of the cameras, but a good one for the boys to play in.”
Eastleigh were undone by a late Kenny Clark header for Ebbsfleet having had a Paul McCallum penalty saved.
“I can’t fault the effort and commitment of the boys,” said Strevens.
“They tried to do what we wanted them to do and, on another day, the result goes the other way.
"They’ll be delighted with the win and we’ll probably say it wasn’t deserved, but that’s football.”
A draw or even defeat on Saturday could still secure Macclesfield top spot depending on how Tranmere fare away at FC Halifax Town later in the afternoon.
