BROCKENHURST are ending the Sydenhams Premier Division campaign on a high.

Pat McManus’s men racked up their third straight victory on Saturday, edging a seven-goal thriller 4-3 against Cowes Sports.

Brock led inside two minutes when Matt Sheedy latched onto Will Tickle’s superb ball over the top and then doubled their advantage with Matt Burt’s header from a corner.

But Cowes hit back through John McKie (2) and Conor White to turn the game on its head before Mitch Speechley-Price restored parity early in the second half.

Another great ball by Tickle, from a free-kick, set up Cassius Newton to head home Brock’s winner.

The mid-table Badgers have two home games left - against Blackfield & Langley on Friday (7.45pm) and AFC Portchester on May 1 (7.45pm).

*AMESBURY Town will have a new manager at the helm next season.

Dave Coker will take over from current boss Gareth Horner, who is stepping down for personal reasons but will remain on the management committee.

Coker is no stranger to Amesbury. He is the club’s all-time leading scorer and boasts a wealth of managerial experience, having led Shaftesbury from the Dorset League into the Wessex Premier.

He said: “I’m delighted to return to Amesbury.

The club has always been a large part of my life and I’m looking forward to ensuring success on the field. There is a sizeable amount of potential here and I know everyone involved will work together to ensure a positive 2018/19 season.”

Amesbury’s Connor Millar netted a fastest goal of the season contender against AFC Portchester on Saturday, scoring after 26 seconds. Portch then led 2-1 through Matt Page and Steve Ramsey before a Cameron Roach double earned Amesbury a 3-2 Sydenhams Premier win.

*RAE Hughes, manager of Sydenhams Premier outfit Bemerton Heath Harlequins, is looking for a new assistant manager for next season.

Coaching badges are not essential, but experience of being involved at the same or a similar standard would be beneficial.
