JOE Weatherley warmed up for his first Lord’s final with his maiden first-class century as Hampshire draw with Lancashire at Old Trafford.
Hampshire began the final day on 66-2, a lead of 106.
Weatherley, who survived an early lbw appeal, batted for more than six hours and shared an unbroken 73 for the sixth wicket with Ian Holland (26 not out) before hands were shaken at 237-5.
The 21 year-old said: “I needed to be selfish – grind it out and finish not out.
“I was determined when I was on 50 or 60 to make it a hundred.
“If we can continue to score 400 in our first innings I don’t think we’ll lose too many games.”
