LYMINGTON Town didn’t just win their FA Cup replay last night – they cruised it 5-1.
After coming away with a 1-1 draw at Sandhurst Town on Saturday, Dave Lewis’s side had all to play for in the extra preliminary round replay held at nearby New Milton Town.
There was an early setback when the visitors took a 16th-minute lead, but Zak Pickett’s bullet header from Mike Gosney’s 25th-minute corner brought them swiftly back on terms.
With half-time approaching, Lymo struck again when Ashley Jarvis slipped the ball through for Taz Roberts to find the bottom corner.
Charlie Willett put clear daylight between the teams with a 68th-minute header and Lymo finished the job with an 84th-minute Gosney penalty and a late second from Willett.
Next up for the Sydenhams Premier Division outfit is a home tie against Frimley Town on Saturday week (August 25).
*Ex-Saint Jo Tessem was on the scoresheet as Hythe & Dibden beat Verwood Town 2-1 at Clayfields in Sydenhams Division One.
Sam Woodward’s opener for Hythe was snuffed out by Sam Joy for the Potters, but 46-year-old Tessem bagged the 76th-minute winner.
