Saints have been drawn away to Brighton in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
An all Premier League tie away from home is a tough start to the League Cup campaign for Saints, who were knocked out at the first hurdle last season at home to Wolves having got to Wembley before narrowly losing to Man United the previous year.
The tie at the Amex Stadium will be played the week commencing August 27.
