ORIOL Romeu is desperate for Saints to have that winning feeling to really kick-start their Premier League season – beginning against Leicester at St Mary’s on Saturday.

A draw at home to Burnley and a defeat at Everton have allowed worries to creep in early on this cam-paign at St Mary’s, but Romeu knows that the grabbing all three points against former manager Claude Puel on Saturday will change everything.

“We want to start doing well and winning games as soon as possible or we’re going to face some prob-lems,” he said.

“It’s a good challenge to get back to winning ways, to start feeling those three points back into us and we need to turn this one around and get it right.

“It’s a good chance at home. I think the fans enjoyed the second half last time, probably a different face of the team, and it can be great to get the three points.”

Three wins in their opening 13 Premier League games last season meant Saints were playing catch up and were soon battling against relegation.

Avoiding similar circumstances is one of Mark Hughes’ primary targets this season and the Leicester match on Saturday is a huge chance to really jolt start this campaign into life.

“We’ve just started and training has been good in terms of working hard and getting that feeling into everyone,” the Spaniard added.

“We’re feeling positive, we just need to get those good moments to get those positive parts of the game into the whole 90 minutes and get points, because that’s what matters.”

Saints have been defined by slow start this season – finally whirring into life in the second half of both their outings so far.

The defensive midfielder has urged Saints to show more intent from the beginning of games.

“What is true is that we need to start the games better because last week luckily was 0-0 but this week we conceded a couple of goals,” the 26-year-old said.

“We cannot have these differences between parts of the game because that’s killing us.”

He continued: “We do come out at teams feeling confident that we can get something out of every game. Sometimes it’s how we react if something negative happens, how we get over this and that’s very important throughout the whole season.

“There will be moments when we don’t feel comfortable and we cannot allow ourselves to go through the whole period to get back into the game.”
