Nigel Pearson was a surprise appointment in the wake of Saints' FA Cup exit. Won just three of his 14 games in charge.
Feb 17 - Pearson is first contacted by Saints to talk about the managerial vacancy the day after Saints' embarrassing FA Cup exit at Bristol Rovers.
Feb 18 - Pearson is appointed as Saints manager.
Feb 19 - Saints slump to a 2-0 St Mary's defeat to Plymouth, though Pearson doesn't pick the team.
Feb 23 - Saints pick up their first point of Pearson's reign with a 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe.
Mar 1 - First point at St Mary's after another 1-1 draw, this time against Ipswich.
Mar 5 - Trip to Wolves where Saints draw 2-2.
Mar 8 - It's four draws on the spin after a 2-2 at Blackpool.
Mar 11 - A first win for Pearson as Saints defeat fellow strugglers Leicester 1-0 at St Mary's.
Mar 12 - Pearson joins the club directors in a meeting with concerned fans.
Mar 15 - The lowest point of Pearson's short reign as Saints are thrashed 5-0 at Hull.
Mar 22 - Saints are held to a goalless draw at St Mary's by Coventry.
Mar 29 - The table starts to make very grim reading after Saints are beaten 1-0 by Cardiff. Pearson says he won't give up on his team.
Apr 5 - Joyous scenes at St Mary's as Saints beat table-topping Bristol City 2-0 to move out of the drop zone.
Apr 10 - Pearson adds Chris Lucketti to his stable of impressive loan signings that has already included Richard Wright and Chris Perry.
Apr 12 - Saints bag a creditable 1-1 draw at Charlton.
Apr 19 - A disastrous result as Saints are beaten 1-0 at home by Burnley to slip back into the drop zone.
Apr 28 - Adam Lallana's stunning goal gives Saints the lead at West Brom, who hit back to level and leave Pearson and co in the bottom three with one match to go.
May 4 - Saints defeat Sheffield United 3-2 at St Mary's to secure their Championship survival. Pearson is hailed by fans, directors and players for his part in keeping Saints from the drop. Pearson's league record reads three wins from 14 games with seven draws and four losses.
May 6 - Leon Crouch admits Pearson's contract expires this summer and says he would give him a new one but can't because of the pending EGM.
May 12 - Director Mary Corbett backs the calls for Pearson to stay.
May 15 - Rupert Lowe and Michael Wilde officially return to the club and make sorting out the managerial situation one of their top priorities.
May 21 - Lowe and Wilde hold talks with Pearson to discuss the future.
May 30 - After many deliberations, it is decided Saints will not renew Pearson's contract and instead take a radical change of direction on the playing side.
